Reaching the Höchsterhütte – Rifugio Canziani
From Fontana Bianca – Weißbrunn
Take Path 140 in the direction of Rifugio Canziani - Höchsterhütte (approx. 1,5 hrs.)
Path 12
- From the Swemmalm Ropeway Station go in the direction of Baita Schuster- Schusterhütte Alpine hut (2 hrs).
- From Baita Schuster- Schusterhütte proceed to Malga Flatschberg restaurant (45 min).
- From Malga Flatschberg go to Malga Pils ( 1 ¼ hrs)..
- From Malga Pils follow indications to the Höchsterhütte - Rifugio Canziani (2 hrs).
Total: 6 hours.
Overall length: 21 km.
Midway ‘pit-stops’:
- at Baita Schuster;
- then again, at Malga Flatschberg, where to enjoy a selection of homemade products, especially cheeses;
- Malga Pils, where to taste a cold lunch with cheese, butter, and salami.
Coming from Sankt Gertraud - Santa Geltrude I
- At the centre of Sankt Gertraud - Santa Geltrude take Path 109 leading to Gonnawand – Monte Chiodo – Nagelstein.
- Take Path 101 until Malga Fiechtalm reatsurant.
- Then take the Path 107 leading to Lago Pesce – Fischersee. Go as far as Lago Lungo – Langsee.
- Then take Path 12 leading to Rifugio Canziani - Höchsterhütte.
Coming from Sankt Gertraud - Santa Geltrude II
From Sankt Gertraud - Santa Geltrude take Path 108. Go through Chiesa Valley until reaching the Rabbi mountain pass; then proceed in the direction of the Rifugio Stella Alpina Lago Corvo – Haselgruberhütte Alpine hut. Besides, this hut may be reached by mountain bike owing to the Transalp-Mountainbike Road.

Coming from Rifugio Stella Alpina Lago Corvo - Haselgruberhütte I
Höchsterhütte – Rifugio Canziani is linked to the Rifugio Stella Alpina – Lago Corvo mountain hut by the Passo Chiesa mountain pass. Once reached Lago Lungo – Langsee, take Path 12. to the Höchsterhütte – Rifugio Canziani (Approx. 2 ½ hrs.)
Coming from Rifugio Stella Alpina Lago Corvo - Haselgruberhütte II
- Take Path 145 from Rifugio Lago Corvo – Haselgruberhütte towards Haselgruber Seen area. The area is adorned with water mirrors, offering tourists breathtaking views, especially from Monte Collecchio. Take Path 107 until crossing Giogo Nero - Schwärzerjoch mountain pass. Then, proceed towards Lago Lungo (Path 12) and then to the Höchsterhütte (approx. 3,5 hrs.).
From Monte Chiodo - Nagelstein
- Starting from Monte Chiodo - Nagelstein Mount take the Path 104 reaching Malga Obere Weissbrunnalm restaurant.
- Then, take Path 107 leading to Lago Lungo - Langsee; once there, take Path 12 leading to Rifugio Canziani.
From Rifugio Dorigoni
Take Path 107 crossing the Giogo Nero – Schwärzerjoch mountain pass until Lago Lungo – Langsee. Take Path 12 leading to the Rifugio Canziani. Approx. 3 ½ hrs.
From the Val Martello Valley:
From Café Hölderle take Path 4. Walk until you reach Passo Soy mountain pass. Then switch to Path 142 until intercepting Path 12 leading to the Höchsterhütte - Rifugio Canziani. Approx. 7 hrs.
